The first two films havent been great but the one thing that was done right is casting Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft and her performance with the role. Angelina was able to make you really believe she was Lara Croft. I enjoy the first two films but there are many things I think need improving for a third installment. I was thinking that the characters Hilary and Bryce need to be excluded entirely or at the very least have their presence reduced, even to the point of just being cameos. I dont hate these characters but theyre not really that necessary to tell the story.
In Tomb Raider III I want to see Lara really, truly challenged both physically and mentally. The best way I can see to do this is to have her on her own in a dangerous environment cut off from the rest of civilisation and against great odds. In her backstory from the games Lara survived a plane crash and had to continue surviving on her own without any help. Lara needs to be tested in a similar fashion in the films.
In the games Lara is on her own exploring the various locales and tombs, and reducing the amount of characters would be a good idea. I know this is something that wouldnt be easy to accomplish as it could easily become stale and boring. I also think its a fear that film studios have. However there must be some way to resolve this. In order to compensate there could be characters communicating with Lara as she explores like there is in Tomb Raider Legend.
I think the best time to strike is now because of the renewed interest in Tomb Raider with the success of Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary.
So if a third is made what would you guys want it to be like? |
